About us

We are professional researchers and professional psychotherapists who are specialized for children, adolescents and young adults. We all work at the Institute for Research on Child, Family, and Youth in Masaryk University. We have many years of experiences for research on children and families. 

 

Tomo Umemura, Ph.D.

is the coordinator of this project. He earned his doctoral degree in the University of Texas at Austin in 2012. Now, he is working at Masaryk University as a post-doctoral researcher (https://is.muni.cz/auth/person/232508?lang=en;lang=en;lang=en). He is specialized for attachment relationships between children and parents. Dr. Umemura is also serving as the co-chair of Asia Network for Society for the Study of Emerging Adulthood (http://www.ssea.org). Lenka Lacinová, Ph.D.

Doc. Mgr. Lenka Lacinová, Ph.D. is the vice-chair at the Institute for Research on Children, Youth and Family, a researcher and an academic lecturer (http://www.muni.cz/people/6087). She is interested in attachment, in the development of romantic relationships from adolescence to adulthood. Her interests further include relationships within families with particular focus on the effect parental conflicts have on the development and mental well-being of children and adolescents. At the faculty, she teaches developmental psychology. She was also the head of a discussion group for parents with ADHD children for ten years. She co-edited the books 'Child at the Brink of Adolescence', 'Relationships in Adolescence'. She is also the author of many scientific articles and the co-author of a parenting guide for parents. Mgr. Eliška Horská

is a doctoral student of developmental psychology at the Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University and a researcher at the Institute for Research on Children, Youth, and Family (http://www.muni.cz/people/309855). She focuses on “spolurodičovství” and divorces. She also works as a psychologist at the Therapeutic Centre in the Olomouc Region at the society 'Podané ruce, o.p.s.' where she specialises in addictive behaviours.

Mgr. Lenka Pivodová

is a doctoral student of Developmental psychology at Faculty of Social Studies at Masaryk University, she is researcher in the Institute for Research on Children, Youth, and Family. Her research interests include family systems. She used to work in Center for children with behavioral problems in Brno.

Prof. PhDr. Petr Macek, CSc.

is a professor and the Chair of the Institute for Research on Children, Youth, and Family. His research interests include the psychosocial development of adolescents, especially the study of the self and identity in the context of family systems. He is a principal investigator of multiple longitudinal projects funded by the Czech Science Foundation: e.g. the Path-to-Adulthood project and the European Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children. He is a member of the Executive Council of the European Association for Research on Adolescence, the Editorial Board of the European Psychologist, Emerging Adulthood, Studia Psychologica, and Československá Psychologie.
